Concert pianist and master improviser Hugo van Neck recently formed a duo with percussionist January Wirken. Wirken was 20 years at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, including 7 years as director.

Recently he retired from this position to regain entirely dedicated to the music as a performer. "I want Rachmaninoff play with you," he told Hugo during a meeting know. This unusual statement (piano and percussion?) Hugo van Neck was a challenge and an impetus that led to a completely unprecedented way of playing.
